Young Dragons
The proposal is to set up a series of Young Dragons Den events. Entrepreneurs with sustainable projects that proactively address the urgent need to avoid the 1.5 degree tipping point will pitch to panels of young people who, in turn, will be coached in what to look out for in a business idea and how to winkle out any weaknesses.
Gloucestershire Land for People
Experience in Burlington, Vermont inspired the establishment of a Community Land Trust (CLT) which acquires, holds and manages an asset – land, pub, post office – for the community, in perpetuity.
The Exchange
Hot desking facilities are nearly always full. The conference room is regularly booked by community, charity and religious groups and – as copying is allegedly the best form of flattery – we are pleased that people who started out at the Exchange have gone on to set up other incubators – current count is four; all different but all informed and inspired by the Exchange.
Stroud Common Wealth
In its 20 year existence, SCW has supported and initiated numerous enterprises including Stroud Community Agriculture Limited and Gloucestershire Land for People, a community land trust. Along the way SCW’s Directors, all volunteers, have had successes – and some failures – with its projects, but in either case have built a reputation and a brand that is both respected and valued. SCW is always on the look-out for needs and opportunities in the community. Hence Stroud Communiversity.
